“The Lonely Explorer”
For this project I animated a robot on an alien planet, loosely inspired by Wall-E and the Mars Curiosity Rover, who sings to himself all alone on his birthday.
Storyboard:
The robot is exploring a rocky planet all alone. The first shot is wide to give a sense of how small and alone he is. Then the viewer gets a closer shot of the robot to get a better sense of his personality. He scans the ground, then pauses for a moment to look up at the night sky and sees a shooting star. Then he simply goes back to his work. The viewer is left to decide if he made a wish.

I decided against background music because I wanted to emphasize the emptiness and quietness of the setting.
